Bourbon Raw has moved into the former Maker’s Lounge spot in Fourth Street Live after a complete shutdown and renovation. Though Maker’s Lounge was a popular spot and did very well for years, there was a dispute over the name and the owners took the opportunity to completely re-brand the space.
The atmosphere at Bourbon Raw is upscale and fancy- think fireplaces, water features, and limestone and marble accents everywhere. Bourbon bottles are illuminated by blue lights against white subway tiles behind the massive white marble bar.
There’s a small private event space at the back of the restaurant that could probably accommodate 30 people. There are two standouts of the space: the bar that runs the length of the main dining room and the elevated seating area with wraparound bench seating by the fireplaces. This is sure to be a cozy and inviting space heading into winter.
The cuisine is being billed as “upscale Southern” and includes classics such as chicken and dumplings, fried chicken, and duck confit. Standouts on the menu include the crab dip and “Oysters Kentuckafella”, a Kentucky spin on Oysters Rockafeller which includes country ham. Because Bourbon Raw is a member of the Urban Bourbon Trail, the staff are already getting up to speed on Bourbonism. The selection of bourbon behind the bar is quite large, and there will be plenty of other wine, beer, and spirits in this well-stocked bar.
This great new bourbon spot is located just a few doors down from the Jim Beam Urban Stillhouse in the Fourth Street Live! entertainment district. Bourbon Raw opened to the public for dinner Saturday night, October 24, 2015.
