    Bourbon?  Beer?

Among my friends this argument is akin to the old “less filling, taste great” debates of the 80’s.  I have some friends (Laura, Susan, Chris, Paul and others) who are CRAZY about beer. They like All Shades,  All Types, All Brews.  On the other side, I have friends (Dan, David, Lynda, Mark and others) who are obsessed with everything bourbon.  Single Malt, Single Barrel, Special Reserves.  They love it all.

So aside from serving up boilermakers all the time, I have been always been vexed with the mixing the two crowds. So much so, that when I saw this dinner, I literally screamed “Eureka”.

It’s Four Roses & BBC Bourbon & Beer Dinner. It happens this Thursday night at 6.  The dinner will be in the NEW Four Roses Bourbon Barrel Loft housed on the third floor of BBC’s downtown location, 300 W Main St.

The Four Roses Bourbon Barrel Loft is a recent renovation of the 3,000-square-foot third floor of The 300 Building, which houses the BBC just across from the YUM! Center.

It has a contemporary lounge that includes a custom-built bar.  But The highlight for me is the bourbon barrel staves woven together to form a unique ceiling. The Loft can accommodate up to 130-150 for a seated dinner, but is very comfortable for smaller groups from 30 to 50.

This Bourbon and Beer dinner is $50 person.  It includes a four-course, upscale dinner paired with a variety of Four Roses Bourbon expressions and Bluegrass Brewing Company craft beer will be included.  Another bonus is a chance to meet the men behind the bourbon and brews – Four Roses Master Distiller Jim Rutledge and BBC Brewmasters Toby & Jeremy Hunt.  To make reservations, please call Melissa Purvis or Jason McGrew at (502) 562-0090 or for more information visit www.bbcbrew.com.

    This Thursday Night’s menu:

Appetizer: Smoked beef brisket over crispy cornbread served with bacon jam, shaved gouda cheese and baby arugula

Salad:  Baby spinach salad – crispy pork belly, pickled red onions, sweet potato hay, toasted pine nuts, blood oranges and dried cherry vinaigrette

Entrée: Grilled bourbon marinated beef tenderloin served with butternut squash risotto and brown butter brussel sprouts topped with smoked vanilla bean demi glaze

Dessert: Peanut butter crème brulee with bourbon ganache

All the food, and the pairings ONLY $50 – and it happens in The Four Roses Bourbon Barrel Loft.  And who knows it might finally bring the Bourbon or Beer debate to a peaceful solution, at least for one night!
