The former Kentucky Kingdom Amusement Park, located at the Kentucky Exposition Center, will get new life breathed into it after a lease agreement was approved by the Kentucky State Fair Board for Bluegrass Boardwalk, Inc. to lease the theme park. Bluegrass Boardwalk, Inc. is made up of the Koch Family that owns the very popular and world renowned Holiday World & Splashin' Safari theme park in Santa Claus, Indiana.

The 57.26 acre Kentucky Kingdom Park was closed in 2009 after being abandoned by Six Flags amid filing bankruptcy.

The Bluegrass Boardwalk, Inc. lease agreement is for a 50 year lease term and they have plans to reopen the park in 2013. The Koch Family will model the operations of the park after their hugely successful Holiday World & Splashin' Safari theme park known for its roller coasters and water slides.
