The Bloodroots Barter: bringing a foot-stomping good time back to Louisville
    Print this page

The first time I had the pleasure of seeing The Bloodroots Barter in concert, it was wild (to say the least). The show was at a small coffeeshop in Berea, Kentucky called The Black Feather. However, the four piece acoustic powerhouse transformed the venue into a jumping, stomping, and dancing speakeasy. Imagine an impromptu marriage of Ralph Stanley, Tom Waits, and Gogol Bordello. Too much fun, right?

Since that small tour, during which the band was playing mostly for tips and a place to sleep, The Bloodroots Barter has seen considerable success. They have been almost endlessly touring within the region and have released one full length record alongside a nine track online exclusive.

Despite the band's newfound success and popularity, the group continues to maintain its rough Appalachian sound. Each member is still accompanied onstage by his/her personal fifth of Old Crow bourbon whiskey. The string band's backwoods style and sound, coupled with an invincible energy (and bourbon, of course) will not disappoint an audience ready for a dance party done Kentucky style.

The show will take place at 10 pm on Tuesday November 13th at The Hideaway Saloon on Bardstown Road. Doors open at 9 pm, and tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis. Don't be afraid to get there early!
