Louisville is known as the home of the world famous Kentucky Derby, the fabled first original cheeseburger, the mouth-watering Hot Brown and now the world’s first gender neutral clothing line, BLōFISH.

And if you’re wondering just what exactly a gender neutral clothing line is, don’t worry. We spoke with the creator of BLōFISH, local designer Logan Manford and got the inside scoop on his new venture.

Manford explained that his new clothing line is simply a response to what his friends have been looking for in clothing. “While on a cruise with some friends, we began discussing tee shirts and how we liked each other’s’ clothing. The conversation quickly evolved into how it was difficult to find certain styles of clothing in the size one of my female friends wanted. She said the men’s section had the style but often the fit was not right. The boy’s section may have the fit close, but the styles were not the same.”

And in typical Louisvillian go-getter fashion, Manford decided to take this issue into his own hands and create exactly what his friend was looking for. “We all began to discuss how many of us wear the same clothes anyway and it seemed stupid to me to distinguish between men’s and women’s clothing, and thus the idea of BLōFISH was born.”

But this unique clothing line is much more than a collection of carefully designed, well-fitting tee shirts. Manford stands by his company's slogan, "All For All," and believes in equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of gender or race. And while offering an equal opportunity with his clothing line, he's also making larger impacts throughout the community as well. Each month, BLōFISH chooses a charity to donate 10% of its sales to.

And while giving back to Louisville's community, BLōFISH Clothing takes pride in printing its products locally. After designing the products here in Louisville, the basic clothing articles are produced in California and are later printed on by Sampan Screen Printing in Jeffersonville. "We are currently working on consolidating all of our production into one place and looking into a few different places," explains Manford.

Though the line currently only offers an inventory of hats, sweatshirts and both short and long sleeved tee shirts, Manford is actively working on a design for pants to incorporate into the brand very soon.

Located next to Garage Bar in busy NuLu, BLōFISH will serve Louisville as more than just a clothing store. Along with welcoming everyone regardless of style preference, Manford and his team also plan to use their store’s unique location to host events while taking advantage of its beautiful rear patio area for summertime socializing and networking.
