    Bit to Do

Located at 1722 Bardstown Road in the parking lot of the Bardstown Road Presbyterian Church, the farmers' market is a weekly Saturday morning routine for many residents of the Highlands, and it is open for business once again.

The familiar site of fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers, meat and cheeses returned to the area last weekend as it opened up its 20th annual campaign.

It will be open every Saturday morning from 8am-12pm until December 18th, 2010.

Started in 1991, the farmers' market now boasts 30 vendors each week, as its focus is still to bring together the farming and consumer community and provide support for local and family farms.

According to its website, the Bardstown Road Farmers' Market Inc offers the following “seasonal fruits and vegetables *cut flowers, potted plants, rabbit,  pastured beef, pork, lamb, poultry, bison, sausage, and eggs *farmstead cheeses made from cow and goat milk *baked goods, pastries, and prepared foods *omelets made to order *jams, jellies, salsas,  and *honey “.

Make this farmers' market a part of your weekend routine.

You’ll get a chance to see your community members and try some of the best in local food!
