This may be shocking. It is possible that you will be utterly surprised and rendered immobile by the reveal here. This is going to be an earthquake in your cubicle on a Friday afternoon. It’s really going to sparkle in your memory as A Thing To Be Remembered. My confession:
I don’t understand sports.
Whoa.
Much like the various and sundry multitudes of other Things Erin Does Not Understand – we can pick and choose here: Math, Rubik’s Cubes, Circus Peanuts, Love – the concept of organized physical games is something that very easily can have my little head a-swiveling, much like a confused dog, as I try to grasp the nature of this excitement.
Not understanding Math is understandable: Math is stupid. Piece of cake. Circus Peanuts are also a non-conundrum on the list: it tastes like stale Juicy Fruit and melts away in your mouth in an awkward texture mash-up somewhere between a gummy bear and a corn puff. It’s colored toxic orange. And why the hell is it shaped like a peanut?? Who has questions here? No one.
But here in the Bluegrass – I know my place. I know I’m the aloof kid when it comes to this sports stuff, this basketball stuff, this Go-Big-Blue stuff, and I should choose a dark corner and go wait quietly by my onesie with all the other flawed Kentucky natives who are not Wildcat fans and don’t drink bourbon (I don’t drink bourbon).

So, while we tick off the two-weeks-and-counting towards the Apocalypse (that’s two weeks from today; have a look-see), perhaps many of us flawed and confused humans standing around not understanding things should consider examining the things in Life that befuddle us. Some of you may choose Math. Ok, fine, good for you – I think that’s very idiotic with two weeks left. Have fun having No Fun. No one will choose Circus Peanuts. And I? If this was a well-rounded article I would devote the last line to Improving My Knowledge Of Sports to tie everything together. But I’m not well-rounded. I’m flawed. And I’m going to choose Love. We’ll leave it at that.
