: Anchal Roadshow Launch Party. Meet and greet with the Anchal team. Trolley-hoppers can shop for themselves (or for their millionth wedding gift of the season). Products available include: an exclusive tote bag collection (a joint project from Anchal and fellow Louisville-based nonprofit Beaded Treasures), art pieces and wall hangings, accessories, summer scarves, infinity scarves, bedding, throw quilts, baby quilts and decorative pillows. Beer and wine will be available.
WHY
: As with all Anchal products, Roadshow proceeds will directly benefit existing artisans and help Anchal create more opportunities for exploited women in India.
An estimated 10-20 million women are exploited as commercial sex workers in India. This summer, Anchal Project, a Louisville nonprofit that empowers women in India through design, business, and education, will travel to six different cities in the U.S. to raise awareness and support in its mission. They're kicking off their #AnchalRoadshow during the Frankfort Avenue Trolley Hop at Architype Gallery (1764 Frankfort Avenue, Louisville, KY, 40206) from 6 - 9:30 P.M.
Anchal helps marginalized women in India leave the sex trade by offering them an alternative career in textiles. These women hand stitch one of a kind textiles from vintage saris that are then sold in the U.S. In return, Anchal provides them with 30-50% higher income, health care, and education workshops.
Between July 25thh & August 30th, Anchal will be traveling through Louisville, Memphis TN, Nashville TN, Providence RI, Boston MA, and & Newport RI. Each show will feature the beautiful quilts, pillows, scarves, and an exclusive brand new line of Anchal toe bags. As with all Anchal products, Roadshow proceeds will directly benefit existing artisans and help Anchal create more opportunities for exploited women in India.
