A children's play with a social conscience. Alley Theater for Young Audiences and The Louisville AIDS Walk will present The Yellow Boat beginning tomorrow.
The Yellow Boat performances will go on April 8, 9, and 15 at 7 p.m. each night, and matinee shows will occur on April 9, 10, and 17 at 2 p.m. each day. All shows will go on at Alley Theatre, located in The Pointe at 1205 E. Washington Street in Louisville.
Tickets for each show are $15 and can be purchased online at the Alley Theatre website or by calling the box office at 502-713-6178. More information on the show, recommended for children eight and up, can also be found at the Alley Theatre website.
The Yellow Boat centers on Benjamin, a surprisingly gifted artist who passed away from AIDS at the age of eight. Benjamin used his pain, physically and emotionally, towards the creation of much of his artwork. Kathi E.B. Ellis directed the David Saar-created production.
In keeping with the AIDS topic, part of the money raised from The Yellow Boat will help fund The Louisville AIDS Walk.
