At 8:00 p.m. this Friday, May 4th, the Seelbach Hilton hotel's Medaillion ballroom will host the beginning of the annual Derby Eve Gala with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. This black-tie optional party, which benefits the American Lung Association, is proud to present a delicious taste of southern charm and a dance party worthy of removing high heels for maximum enjoyment.

The theme of the 18th annual Derby Eve Soiree is Derby Eve Gala, “A Southern Soiree,” and the Seelbach hotel's gourmet chefs plan to keep this theme consistent with a decadent dinner menu. Dining options include a bibb lettuce salad with crispy country ham, cheese grit cakes, egg-dipped chicken with pepper gravy and other sauce-based delicacies. The Gala's dessert plans to be distinctively Kentucky, with a bourbon bread pudding topped with cinnamon and a bourbon marinated candied walnut.

To dance off those southern-flavored calories, the American Lung Association has graciously hired one of the south's most energetic dance bands, the Atlanta Allstars. With a song list that spans from Beyonce to Sam Cooke, the Atlanta Allstars are a full ensemble prepared to lift Derby Gala guest's sprits, as well as their heart rates.

Sponsored by locally based corporations, Kindred Healthcare and PharMerica, the 18th annual celebration will benefit party goers with a next-level Oaks night experience, as well as help fund medical research, patient services and supporting public policy that prevents lung disease while promoting lung health.

Limited seating is still available. The American Lung Association encourages Derby revelers to “put yourselves and your guests in the Winners’ Circle on Derby Eve with a night of southern hospitality, Louisville style!”
