Healing Place, a non-profit organization in Louisville.

The Healing Place (please see www.thehealingplace.org
for more information) is a homeless shelter with an innovative program
of care and recovery for homeless chemically dependent people. It has
been nationally recognized for its program model that has been
duplicated in numerous other cities in the US. The School of Medicine
has a special connection with The Healing Place because it has a
medical clinic that provides care to the residents free of charge and
is staffed by local health care professionals who volunteer their time.
Second year students may choose to earn elective credit by working in
the clinic, allowing students to not only gain more clinical exposure
but also to get a better awareness of this successful community
    resource.
