
September 6 - Storybook Character Day (from 12 to 4 p.m.) and Ronald McDonald’s Movie Night at sundown (beginning around 8:30 p.m.)
Children of all ages can meet some of their favorite storybook characters throughout the Zoo from noon to 4 p.m. including Brother and Sister Berenstain Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Winnie the Pooh, Curious George, Junie B. Jones, Madeline and Mouse (from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie). Be sure to bring your camera.
Then enjoy a fun family movie under the stars at sundown (beginning around 8:30 p.m.). Call 502-238-5448 for movie details. Be sure to stop by and meet Ronald McDonald before the movie during a special meet-and-greet session at 7:30 p.m. You can also pick up a free “Horton Hears a Who” activity book and energy-saving tip sheets from FetterGroup as part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR Challenge. Visit the Kentuckianamoms.com booth all day on Sept. 6 for fun prize giveaways while supplies last and to register to win tickets to the Zoo.
Special $5 Zoo admission after 5 p.m. on Sept. 6 includes the pre-movie activities, games, movie and more. Zoo exhibits open until dusk. Free for Zoo members.
September 13, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. - Superhero Day
Meet some of your favorite superheroes and find out how you can become a hero in your own back yard by picking up a free copy of the Zoo’s Toyota Backyard Action Hero Guidebook full of fun facts, awesome animal pictures and cool activities. Dress like a superhero and you’ll even receive a fun prize.
September 20 and 21, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. - Princess and Pirate Days
Presented by Kentucky Education Savings Plan Trust, these two days will allow you meet some of your favorite storybook princesses and pirates. And, if you dress like your favorite prince, princess or pirate, you will receive a special treat! Be sure to bring your camera.
September 20 and 21, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. - Royal Tea Party!
You can dine with your favorite storybook princess and prince at a “Royal Tea Party” at the Louisville Zoo
Enjoy juice “tea,” McDonald Land cookies, free photo compliments of Kentucky Education Savings Plan Trust and other fun activities fit for a prince and princess
The tea party requires a specially purchased ticket that can be purchased at https://tickets.louisvillezoo.org/mainstore.asp. (Guest ages 3 and older are $7 and infants age 2 and under are $4. Zoo admission not included. Zoo admission or membership must be purchased separately.)
