Ear X-tacy is offering the undead an adolescent rite of passage on Thursday, October 27. Zombie prom will happen from 6 - 9 p.m. with all kinds of creeptastic goodness. This is the third annual zombie prom hosted by Ear  X-tacy.

“I don’t know why Louisville loves zombies so much,” said Ear X-tacy  manager Rebecca Mercer. “I think it’s fun to dress up, especially with that.  There’s so many different ways to dress up with it. People love it.”

There will be zombie prom t-shirts on sale along with give-a-ways. Local author David Stack will also be in attendance giving away copies of his book. The Pretty Dead is available at Ear X-tacy.   Ear-x-Tacy was one of the settings used in the young adult's book about a group of local high schoolers who form a  band with plans to perform in a battle of the bands. They end up battling a virus that turns classmates and teachers into zombies.  The book was released in August of 2011 alongside an event at the Kentucky State Fair called Zombies invade the Thrillway. According to the state fair's press release about the event, "each chapter in The Pretty Dead begins with lyrics from an actual song, and several bands featured in the book have Kentucky roots, including My Morning Jacket. There’s a playlist that accompanies the book, like a soundtrack to a film."

Speaking of film soundtracks, local band O.K. Zombie will recreate the score to Night of the Living Dead, and Matt Anthony will DeeJay halloween and horror music. During the outbreak, horror fans will be able to enjoy a 20% discount on horror movies and music in the heavy metal, indie, and gothic music genres. There will be a $25 gift certificate  for the best zombie.

A photographer will be on site taking pictures that will be posted on the Ear-X-Tacy facebook page. There is no charge to attend the event. It is family friendly and appropriate for all ages.
