The Youth Film Festival is open to all Louisville area youth groups, and the inaugural event’s theme is “Respect.” The Red Carpet Premier of the winning films will be held on September 14, 2008 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, 3701 Old Brownsboro Road, where a celebrity guest will serve as emcee. This event will be an awards ceremony for the winners and will honor all youth who participate, some of whom will be Bellewood residents. Tickets for the event are available in advance for $5 and will be sold for $8 at the door.

Bellewood is currently accepting submissions for the contest. All entries must be five minutes or less and must contain all of these elements to qualify:
    • The word “respect” (said, sung or written)
    • A Kentucky landmark
    • A tree
The entries must be wholesome films reflecting positive values. There is no registration fee, and cash prizes in the amounts of $500 (first place), $300 (second place) and $200 (third place) will be awarded to winners.
