If you’re from Kentucky and you like good original music, chances are you’ve heard of the Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Hour. Hosted by singer/songwriter Michael Johnathon, the Lexington, Kentucky-based radio show is approaching a million listeners each week. What you may not be aware of is that the Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Hour has extended its support of original artists by encouraging people to start their own Woodsongs Coffeehouse in their community. These coffeehouses are volunteer run shows presented in homes, schools, theaters and cafes. The purpose is to create a national network of small, fun and artistic stages for artists and their audiences. And now one is coming to Louisville!

The Woodsongs Coffeehouse at Unity will be a listening space for musicians and audiences to enjoy each other's company and mutual encouragement. It will take place on the first Friday of each month at Unity of Louisville, located at 757 South Brook Street. (On Brook between Broadway and Breckinridge Street. It has a huge dome shaped roof. Do the downtown trolley hop and then come by and see us!) The first show is Friday September 5 at 8 pm. Doors open at 7:30 pm. Admission is $5 at the door. Refreshments will be sold.

Diesel, a songwriter from Nashville, will be the headlining artist, and Louisville’s own Danny Flanigan will open the show. The show will be hosted by Louisville singer/songwriter Heidi Howe.

Jim Beam Emerging Artist Diesel has shared billing with Jeff Black, Garrison Starr, Larry Jon Wilson, and jazz duo Tuck & Patti. She's played the Birchmere, NYC's Bitter End, Nashville's Belcourt Theatre, and Birminham's Workplay, and The Opry at the Ryman Auditorium. Her latest release, "Journey of a Girl", blends her new a capella sounds with songs created with her band. Performing Songwriter Magazine wrote that, "Her sultry vocals are a jazz lover's dream. Her sensual sway makes the music matter."

Much-loved Louisville singer/songwriter Danny Flanigan has shared billing with Bob Dylan, Shawn Colvin, The Subdudes, The Wallflowers, Patti Griffin, Jonatha Brooke, Del Amitri and The Bodeans. The Louisville Music News said, “Flanigan's lyrics are meaningful and poetic. Even better, you can actually hear and understand them through the music."

Heidi Howe has hosted several songwriter showcases over the past 10 years, most notably her weekly “One Night Stand Show” at Clifton’s Pizza that she produced for more than 5 years. She is very excited to be a part of this show. Heidi will be representing Louisville for a special “Kentucky Artists” Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Hour later this fall.
