Most any game played in the Southeastern Conference, against Kentucky is a rivalry; in terms of the Big Blue Nation.  In the words Coach Cal spoke at Midnight Madness this season, “You guys are crazy.”  The Florida game will be the “War in Rupp” as the Gators are on the case with a 7 game winning streak with a big win over Vandy (73-65) at home this past Saturday.  Kentucky will not be bullied, 23-1 overall, 9-0 in SEC play, and looking to increase the winning streak to 16.

This has been a busy few days for the Wildcats as Davis passed Shaq’s blocked shots record, now with 116. Kidd-Gilchrist and Anthony Davis are both on the short list of the mid-season watch list for 2012 National Player of the Year, issued by Oscar Robertson and never won by a Kentucky player in 35 seasons.  Oh and there was that smashing win in Columbia, SC Saturday, “It didn’t matter who we played, somebody was going to lose by 30.” Head Coach John Calipari said following the game.

If Florida thinks they will continue their winning streak in Rupp tonight, they should take a look at the limited edition posters featuring Anthony Davis, posed with the wingspan the length of 4 ½ basketballs for each arm; one will be given to each fan.  Former Wildcat and now Assistant Coach to the Gators, John Pelphrey will be on the visitor’s bench to watch the match-up.

For tonight’s game, Florida will bring forward Jeffery Taylor who led the Gators in scoring against Vandy with 25 and guard John Jenkins who posted 15 total points.  The Wildcats will have to contend with the fire of Florida Head Coach Billy Donovan and the intense nature of his team’s abilities. Coach Cal is concerned with staying at No.1, not being conceited about the ranking, and minimizing the obvious target painted on Davis’ back.

The game will air on ESPN, tip-off at 7pm  (EST) and UK-IMG Radio Network.
