When thinking of classic American film comedians, what names come to mind? In my opinion, Charlie Chaplin sits at the forefront as the greatest comedian ever to live. His contemporaries cannot be ignored, though: greats such as the Marx Brothers, Buster Keaton, and Harold Lloyd, for example. The Clifton Center and Wild and Woolly Video celebrate Christmas tonight with a very special triple feature: three films by the classic slapstick comedy duo, Laurel and Hardy.
The night starts at 7:00 with the 19-minute short “Big Business” (1929), about a pair of door-to-door Christmas tree salesmen. Next, at 7:30 is “Babes in Toyland,” a.k.a. “March of the Wooden Soldiers” (1934), a Christmas-themed musical based on Mother Goose fairy tales. Finally, the night ends with a 9:00 screening of “Way Out West” (1939).
Ticket sales start at 6:00, and snacks and alcohol are available for purchase before the show. Friends of the Clifton Center receive free admission; all others obtain entrance for $5.
