What a great day for a parade! The annual Freedom Parade in Jeffersonville, Indiana was this morning. The city hosts this hometown parade annually along with a short festival immediately following. The parade runs along Spring Street, from the river to about Eighth Street. The rainy morning deterred some folks from watching this year, but turnout was still good.
The police and fire department lead the parade shining their lights and sounding their loud sirens, always a good show for the kids. Ken Schultz, Meteorologist was riding in a convertible, waving to the crowds. He was near the beginning of the parade and after a short distance of sitting, he stood up and said "I can't see anyone."
Several politicians, and hopefuls had floats and handed out everything from fans, to balloons and candy. There were two boy scout troops, a girl scout troop, the Daughters of American Revolution, two martial arts schools and the Jeffersonville High School marching band, too many entries to list. the Humane Society marched with several dogs.
My family had a great time, the kids loved the animals in the parade and all the free candy and goodies they were handed. If you missed it today, make plans for next year. It is a nice parade.
