It can be hard to keep track of all the cool foodie buzz and gossip that circulates Louisville. Here's what I find noteworthy this week:

    Special Events:

Star Chefs Rising Star Gala is happening tonight (2/25), at the Muhammad Ali Center. Tickets are $85 per person and the incredible tasting menu is packed with notable names like Annie Pettry (of Decca) and Levon Wallace (Proof). Certainly worth the price, it's sure to be an unforgettable night.

Grind will be at the Moth Story Slam! at Headliners tonight (2/25). One of my all-time favorite Louisville events, the Moth features true stories told live without notes. The only thing that could possibly make the Moth better is a B&B Burger in my mouth.

Garage Bar is hosting a “Digital Detox” night on Wednesday (2/26) from 5 – 11. The restaurant will have board games and crafts and other “old-timey” stuff to distract diners from their digital lives. Check your phone at the door!

Desserts First is happening this Wednesday night (2/26) at Mellwood Arts Center from 6 - 8. Some of Louisville’s best chefs will be creating dishes using Girl Scout Cookies. Admission to this event is buy-one-get-one right now.

502 Restaurant Week is still going on (through March 5). 502 Restaurant Week is a great chance to try out Louisville eateries like Bourbons Bistro or Volare for a very reasonable $50.20 per couple or $50.20 per person.

    Goodbyes:

Zaytun Mediterranean Grill is gone, it seems because of a problem with rent. The problem being, the rent wasn’t paid. Au revior, Tribal Fries.

Mexico Tipico, on Dixie, burned down. The cause of the fire isn’t known yet, but my heart goes out to all those who worked there.

Pita Delites is changing into Zad Modern Mediterranean, possible in early March. Not quite a goodbye, but certainly a transformation.

    Etc:

Art Eatables' excellent bourbon truffles are going to be in the swag bags at the Oscars. So J-Law won't be the only Louisville original at the Academy Awards, though we doubt the truffles will pull adorably awkward antics or talk about how much pizza they ostensibly eat.

Taco Bell is doing breakfast. Not really Louisville-centric, but the inclusion of a breakfast taco stuffed into a waffle might change the meaning of "hangover food" forever, so it merited inclusion. The breakfast is slated to start March 21.
