Walden Theatre will present three of Shakespeare's works during the Young American Shakespeare festival, which will begin on May 6.
All performances of Henry V, Love Labour's Lost, and Timon of Athens will take place in the Victor Jory Theatre inside Actors Theatre, located at 316 W. Main Street in downtown Louisville.
Tickets for each evening performance are $15 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, and $10 for students. Meanwhile, tickets for each matinee performance are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, and $8 for students. The Young American Shakespeare festival will open with Henry V. This production tells the story of a young and focused king who sends troops into a bloody but questionable war with France. Alec Volz directed Henry V.
Henry V will be performed on May 6, 8, 10, and 13 at 7 p.m. A matinee performance will take place on May 15 at 2 p.m.
Love Labour's Lost, meanwhile, deals with the King of Navarre and three lords deciding not to be in contact with women for three years as part of an oath. Instead, a comedy follows as the four men fall in love with women and deal with a mixup in letters. The production was directed by Charlie Sexton.
Love Labour's Lost will have performances on May 11 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. as well as May 14 at 8 p.m. Matinee performances will take place on May 8 and 9 at 2 p.m. each day.
The third production to open will be Timon of Athens, which was directed by J. Barrett Cooper. In the story, Timon is a generous man, giving much wealth to those around him. However, when the riches dry up, he is forced to leave Athens. Meanwhile, Alciblades, having been removed from Athens as well, attempts to prepare an army for the invasion.
Timon of Athens will take place on May 7, 9, 12, and 15 at 7:30 p.m. A matinee show will occur on May 16 at 2 p.m.
