Not ready for Christmas music just yet? If you are a fan of choral music, the adult mixed choir, known as Voces Novae ("new voices") will perform the works of 21st century American composers this Sunday, November 21, 3 p.m. at the Church of the Ascension. Director Frank E. Heller has put together a program called "Made In America: Modern Landscapes," that features both sacred and secular music, including a modern arrangement of a Gregorian Chant.
The semi-professional choir is comprised of about 60 - 70 singers from the Louisville and Southern Indiana metro area. Regular summer auditions are held each year, but interested singers can also contact Dr. Heller to schedule an audition at other times.
Dr. Heller is the founder of Voces Novae, as well as its Executive and Artistic Director. He is in his 13th year as the Director of Music Ministries at Highland Presbyterian Church and is also a private vocal instructor. The accompanist for the choir is Dr. Louie Bailey, the Minister of Music and organist at Crescent Hill Baptist Church.
Voces Novae tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.voces-novae.org. Advance tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $6 for students/children.
