If Italian food (and the obligatory wine along with it) is your thing, make plans to bear down at the Winemaker’s Dinner at Vincenzo’s next Wednesday, July 15 at 6:30 p.m.

Vincenzo’s Italian Restaurant will host a true Italian dinner featuring wine expert, Roland Marandino, who will bring classic Italian Sartori wines from Verona and Cecchi wines from Tuscany to pair with Chef Agostino Gabriele’s five-course menu.

Roland Marandino is passionate about wine. His enthusiasm is contagious as he describes not only wine itself, but the role it can play in our lives. One of his recurring themes is that, for Italians, wine is food and consequently their wines are made not for the judges’ stand, but for the dinner table. A perfect Italian wine is intended to complement a menu, not to dominate it.

A pre-dinner reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will feature the Sartori Pinot Grigio. Dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. with the first course featuring risotto with sunflower zucchini, black truffle and reggiano cream sauce (paired with Cecchi Bonizio Sangiovese). The next course will be a sock-eye salmon with shrimp and garden relish (paired with Cecchi Chianti Classico) followed by an intermezzo.  The main course will be a filet of veal with amarone sauce (paired with Sartori Amarone). And dessert will feature a Strawberry tart garnished with frutti di bosco served with maschio prosecco del veneto.

Reservations, which include the five-course dinner paired with wine, must be made in advance and are $75 per person. Call (502) 580-1350 to make your reservation.
