The UofL women's soccer team(10-4-4) will now have to wait for the NCAA tournament field to be unveiled to learn if they'll be in it after falling to the USF Bulls (10-5-3) on penalty kicks Sunday afternoon in Tampa. After drawing with the Bulls during the regular season, UofL missed on several scoring opportunities and finished regulation and both 15 minute overtime periods 0-0. They converted on 3 of 5 attempts in the shootout, but unfortunately that wasn't enough as USF converted on their final PK for a 4-3 win to advance to the semifinals of the Big East tournament on their home field.
Cardinal's head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes said afterwards, "I thought we played very very well, but unfortunately couldn't finish the many chances we created". South Florida moves on to play UConn in the semifinals for the right to face the winner of Notre Dame and Marquette for the Big East title next weekend in Storrs Connecticut. UofL is left to wait and hope they've done enough to earn a berth in the NCAA tournament, which will be unveiled Monday, November 5th.
