Highlands residents aghast over potentially losing another local business to gentrification will be delighted to learn that CVS and Twig and Leaf have reached a compromise. Rather than replacing Twig and Leaf with a CVS, the landmark diner will start selling pharmaceuticals from behind its counter on May 1.

"Drugs and fried eggs at 3 a.m. are a natural match," said a Twig and Leaf spokesperson. "Have you seen how messed up most of our clientele is? A lot of our male customers in particular will benefit from some Viagra."

"This is great," said Highlands resident E. Thomas James. "The next time I freak out about our historic self-important neighborhood losing its character, I can just get my Prozac prescription filled at the Twig and Leaf. I probably won't though--have you seen the inside of the place? The CVS down the street is just so much cleaner. But it's nice to have the option."
