The Parklands of Floyds Fork officially opened its third park in The Parklands system today. There was a grand opening ceremony at 10 a.m. at the Brown-Forman Silo Center at Turkey Run Park off of Seatonville Road near Echo Trail in eastern Jefferson County.
A large crowd of Parklands members, media personnel, Parklands staff and volunteers, and the general public gathered today at the Silo Center Lawn for an official opening of Turkey Run Park. It was a gorgeous perfectly autumn-like day in Louisville to highlight this park's opening. To say this park is beautiful is truly an understatement. There are breathtaking views all around you and plenty of trails to walk and hiking abounds. Make your way up the 109 steps inside the Brown-Forman Silo Center and arrive at the top for outstanding panoramic views of the entire park and well beyond. For the bikers, there are many paths to pedal and plenty of ground to cover. I was particularly marveling at the architecture all around the Brown-Forman Silo Center and the bridge and stone wall paths leading up and down the steep grades as I made my way through the new park. The Pignic Barn covered table area and the Farmer's Table that was covered as well will make superb places for a picnic with your family or larger gatherings. This park is a rugged outdoors lover's paradise and once the fall leaf colors peak here in Louisville, you'll be making your way there to take in their beauty.

Make a stop at Turkey Run Park your plan for this weekend. Go, see, explore, walk, watch the leaves fall off the trees. I was amazed at one of the speaker's who said that no other large metropolitan city that they know of is building a public park this year the size of Turkey Run Park, including cities like San Francisco and New York. Turkey Run Park is located in southeastern Jefferson County. Directions from Downtown Louisville:
Take the Gene Snyder South to Exit 19 Billtown Road
Take a left on Billtown Road and drive .9 miles to where it ends at Seatonville Road
Turn left onto Seatonville Road (at the stop sign) and follow for about 1.5 miles. The road will cross Turkey Run Creek and then Floyds Fork and you will see the Turkey Run Park entrance on your right. Turn right into the park. It is open from dawn to dusk every day.
