November 14, 2004 (Louisville, Ky) Phoenix Hill Tavern, along with Miller Lite, announce “Togas, Turkeys, and Tunes for Todd” on Thanksgiving night, a fundraiser for WDJX Promotion Director/Air Personality Todd Kelly. Todd was diagnosed with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gherig’s disease approximately three years ago. He has started the Todd Kelly Foundation, which raises money to continue research for ALS. This summer, Todd was diagnosed with cancer, as well.
Togas, Turkeys, and Tunes for Todd will take place at Phoenix Hill Tavern. Great music will play throughout the night. Live music will include Simon and Dave, The Funky Bluesters, Eclectic, and the Trypp Band. Kenny Sauter and Masters of Music will provide the recorded music in between sets. Other activities through the night will include turkey bowling for $2.00, and psychic readings from Cheryl Glassner, who will be donating from her proceeds. Patrons are encouraged to come in togas and participate in the toga contest, which will take place after midnight. Prizes will include a tropical vacation, a Ladies Citizen watch from Gary D’s Jewelers, a $500 Joseph’s Spa Package and a gift certificate from Captain’s Quarters.
Says Ben Rogers, owner of Phoenix Hill, “It’s a wonderful show of love, affection, and respect for Todd. Most people have a difficult time with one of these illnesses, let alone two. Todd has remained positive and optimistic, and continues to do what he can to help others. Everyone, from the talent, to the media, to printing companies, Gary D’s Jewelers, Captain’s Quarters, and more, are donating their time, and product.”
Thursday • November 25th Doors will open at 8:00 at Phoenix Hill, with a $5.00 admission charge. All moneys will benefit Todd. For more information, contact Frankie Rogers at 589-4957, or Marji Pilato at 721-0051.
