Yes, I'm thankful for my family, my dog, my job and all that blah blah...but what am I really jonesing for this Thanksgiving? Fabulous sweaters, ballet flats, funky scarves, cable-knit tights, knee high boots and layers of cozy goodness.

Cold weather trends are all about keeping warm but looking luxurious in lots of layers. Think: tights to cover your legs under a dress or skirt, knee high boots for added coverage, and a scarf can be worn with just about everything. Cardigans or jackets keep you extra warm under a heavy overcoat.  Not only does the combination of the layers keep you warm, it adds interest to your ensamble.  It's better than a plain sweater, jeans, and tennies (gag!).

Whatever your budget is, it's always good to think about pieces that will add interest to your wardrobe.  If you have plenty of plain tops and sweaters, think about adding some scarves, vests, or cardigans.  If you've got jeans out the wazoo then check out some belts to anchor your outfit and accentuate your figure.  Get some embellished ballet flats, like the J Crew pair pictured, to keep your toesies covered and sparkling.

Speaking of sparkle.  Broaches are a great way to add some flash, look classy and dress up a scarf or sweater.  But don't be mistaken, stay away from Christmas themed "pins" which are definitely not fashionable. Stick with something fancier and vintage inspired like this Etsy broach.

Be careful not to overdo it with your layers, you don't want to look lost in your outfit! It's also easy to look like the clothes are wearing you, not the other way around.

Visit local boutiques like Clodhoppers, Peacock Boutique, Chartreuse, Apricot Lane and Les Filles Boutique for help pulling unique outfits together.
