TechFest Louisville Firming up Speakers for Summer Conference

The speaker list for the Technology Association of Louisville Kentucky’s inaugural TechFest Lou event is expanding, with the announcement that Louisvillian and current director at Sutherland Labs, Andrew Swartz, will present the keynote address.

August 20 and 21, 2015, TALK is bringing together people involved in all aspects of the technology industry, from CTOs to engineers to entrepreneurs, to discuss issues and ideas; the focus for the conference will be on three hot tech topics right now: Health care IT and medical devices, IT management and the Internet of Things. The local group foresees the effects of this new conference including “economic development avenues for growth and expansion, the facilitation of new ideas or a chance to explore shared resources, and the understanding of technology tools.”

TechFest will be held every two years, TALK hopes, and the group works closely with other tech associations in cities across the U.S., some of which hold similar conferences, and with national groups like CompTIA and Tech Councils of America.

Beyond speakers, workshops, a trade show section, networking and hands-on time with tech “toys,” this first TechFest will also include a Battle of the Bands on the first night, to help raise funds for the organization’s efforts to connect the technology community in and around Louisville, Kentucky.

Additional speakers scheduled to date include TALK’s CEO Dawn Yankeelov, Humana’s John Eisenhauer, and TALK Data Commando Dave Mattingly.

The TechFest activities will be held at the Kentucky Center for the Arts, with the Belvedere as the site of the music competition, and at one other so-far undisclosed location. Check the website for schedules and for pricing: Early bird prices are in effect now through May 1, and students and others are eligible for special ticket prices.
