Taylor Amerman, a former University of Kentucky student, has been selected out of 30,000 students from the University of Nottingham in England, where she is a graduate student, to be an Olympic torchbearer.

Amerman is studying corporate social responsibility and was one of two students selected for the honor of being a torchbearer from the University. She will represent the USA and Kentucky as she carries the torch on her leg of its journey to the London Olympic‘s Opening Ceremonies.

Her parents plan on joining her in England for the rare honor of watching their daughter carry the torch.

After carrying the torch next week, Taylor and another fellow student, along with a staff member from the University, will take part in the local festival to celebrate its trip to the opening ceremonies.
