Louisville.com is covering this event to highlight Tailspin Ale Fest, Louisville’s Winter Beer Festival, even though the event is sold out. The event features handcrafted, local beer to sample and local music headlining the party. The event is being held at historic Bowman Field in the Louisville Executive Aviation Center, so everything about this first annual event is super-local and Louisville-loved. Local brews in a local airplane hangar that also directly benefits Dare to Care Food Bank? We’re there!

We all know that Kentucky offers us the finest of spirits, but recently, there is another drink front-running that is just as artsy and the state is filled with pride about as well. According to tailspinalefest.com, “the American Craft Beer movement is in full force and Kentucky is well on its way to making our mark on this industry with an emerging craft beer scene. Tailspin Ale Fest seeks to further this cause by providing a premier festival for the craft brewer and craft beer drinker in the Kentuckiana Region." This weekend’s inaugural Tailspin Ale Fest will feature over 150 craft beers at the outstanding venue that is Bowman Field. In a World War II era hangar, at one of the oldest operating airfields, the event is sure to have the wow factor.

Attendees will receive a souvenir tasting glass, and food will be provided by some local food trucks, another distinct marker of Louisville and the Foodie town she is. As mentioned above, another feature includes live music by Moonlight Peddlers and Whiskey Bent Valley, a biplane display, a Kentucky Heritage area, and some educational programming.

Event goers: be sure to check out the after parties. One is the "Official Tailspin Ale Fest After Party at Nachbar." On tap will be Sweetwater and Deschutes, barbeque provided by 502 Cafe, and starts at 7pm at Nachbar at 969 Charles Street. Here is the Facebook event page information about it.  The “Un-official Louisvillebeer.com and Boombozz Tailspin After Party” starts at 6:30pm; attendees can ride the Boombozz Bus to Tony Boombozz Taphouse in the Highlands. The bus will ride every 30 minutes with the last ride back to Bowman Field at 9:30pm. For more information, see the Facebook event page here.

Following our experience at the event, we’ll provide a review of many of the local brews and eateries/breweries from which they came so you can visit them yourselves. The event is located at Bowman Field and begins at 3pm.
