Why are those puppets (and humans) talking like that?  And what exactly does one do with a B.A. in English?  Find out in the Wayward Actors Theatre Company performance of Avenue Q, which opens tomorrow.

Avenue Q performances will go on Sept. 9, 10, 12, 16, and 17 each night at 8 p.m.  A matinee show will run on Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. All performances will occur inside the Mex Theater at KY Center for the Arts, located at 501 West Main Street in downtown Louisville.

Tickets for each show (except for 9/12) are $16 per person. Industry night is Sept. 12, meaning tickets are only $11 per person.  However, tickets for this show have been selling fast and may not be available online.  Other tickets can be purchased via the Kentucky Center website, the Kentucky Center box office, or the Kentucky Center phone number at 1-800-775-7777. Keep in mind this shows contains plenty of adult content and language.

Avenue Q is essentially a take on Sesame Street - the adult version, if you will.  Princetpn, fresh from college with a B.A. in English, has moved to an apartment on Avenue Q, a not-so-glamorous part of New York City.  On this street are tons of young adults, humans and puppets alike, dealing with real-world issues and trying to find a reason for living.

By the way, did you know the superintendent of the neighborhood is none other than former child star Gary Coleman?

For Avenue Q, Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx created music and lyrics while Jeff Witley created the book. The Avenue Q cast includes Bryce Blair, Jeff Ketterman, Meredith McBride, Tymika Prince, Carrie Cooke, Jeff Mangum, Brian Morris, Jason Potts, and Shawnna Speth.  Janet Morris directed the production for Wayward Actors Theatre Company.

More information on the show can be found at the Kentucky Center website.
