Stitzel-Weller Visitor Center and Art Eatables Truffles in the News

Diageo announced today plans to spend $2 Million to open a visitor’s center at the old Stitzel-Weller Distillery site in Shively.  The site currently accommodates warehouses used primarily for the aging of spirits, but there are still no rumors of reopening distillation operations on the site.

"Diageo's creation of a Visitor Center at Stitzel-Weller is exciting news for the city of Louisville, the state of Kentucky

and Bourbon lovers around the world," said Greg Fischer, Mayor of Louisville.  "It is another great step to enhancing the city's Bourbon tourism efforts."

Art Eatables announced yesterday that their bourbon truffles will be included in the gift baskets given to celebrities at the 86th annual Academy Awards.  I had the opportunity to meet the folks from Art Eatables at the Bourbon Classic this year, and I was surprised to learn that each type of truffle is made with a different bourbon and then stamped with an edible version of that bourbon’s logo.  Featured in this Hollywood Swag Bag collection will be truffles made with Maker’s Mark, Blanton’s, Michter’s, and Moonshine.  Hollywood won’t even know what hit them.
