Startup Weekend has come and gone and Louisville has gained a business that was successfully started over the course of a weekend. After just 54 hours, MOOV was created and launched by a team of seven, made up of an architect, banker, firefighter, students and a business owner. Within three days, 50 Louisvillians formed nine mix-and-matched teams to create businesses all for the sake of entrepreneurship for the sixth Startup Weekend Louisville

With a strict time constraint, Startup Weekend works to inspire others through a process of forming teams, building products and launching startups. Starting Friday, participants delivered open mic pitches and motivated others to join their team. All day Saturday and Sunday, teams worked to produce a minimal viable product in competition against all other teams. The teams then presented a demo of their prototype and receive feedback from a panel of experts Sunday night.

The winner of this past weekend’s Startup Weekend, MOOV, uses a similar concept as Lyft and Uber but applies it to moving situations. Truck owners loan out their vehicle for those in the process of moving or needing things like furniture or appliances transported from point A to point B. This app based business uses a match making process that pairs “SHAK’RS” and “MOOV’RS.” The SHAK'R posts a job and makes an offer. MOOV’RS are then notified that a job has been offered and can browse through the available jobs to which they’ll then “Shake on it” and accept a deal. And don’t worry, MOOV’s insurance policy has your belongings covered in the case of an accident. Easy enough, right?

Convenience paired with practicality is a beautiful thing when the one-of-a-kind antique dresser you found at the consignment store is the same size as your ride.

Check out these other projects created during Startup Weekend Louisville:

    Solarband, sunburn tracker for families.

    MarketSpring, crowdsource your marketing department.

MixxThis, connecting through the noise in packed places.
