This weekend, the Speed Art Museum opened its doors after a three-year-long renovation, welcoming the community with a huge celebration. For 30 hours, Louisville partied in the 220,000 square-foot space, enjoying a curated lineup of music, performances, interactives, and educational interludes. A number of local bands performed (including Wax Fang, Lydia Burrell, In Lightning and the Louisville Leopard Percussionists), the Louisville Orchestra and Louisville Ballet collaborated in the Atrium, Walden Theatre performers took over the Medieval Wing with excerpts from Shakespeare, and kids got hands-on experiences in the Art Sparks space.
The Speed will now be open Tuesday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sundays from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. Thanks to a donation from Brown-Forman, regular Sunday admission will be free. You can see other pricing details here.
