About 250 environmental activists staged a solidarity rally at Louisville Memorial Park on Sunday September 21, 2014 coordinated by Kentuckians for the Commonwealth and supported by various groups including Interfaith Power and Light and its leader Tim Darst; the Cumberland (Kentucky) Chapter of the Sierra Club, 350 Louisville, and the Louisville Climate Action Network.

Several Louisville organizations dispatched scores of its supporters to New York City for the "People's Climate Mobilization Rally" urging action to address global warming.  The Louisville based Center for Interfaith Relations sent a delegation of four (4) of its leaders to New York city to participate in the march and rally including Christy Brown, Owsley Brown III, Sarah Reed Harris and Halida Hatic. Sarah Lynn Cunningham, Director of the Louisville Climate Action Network and an environmental engineer who spoke to the Louisville solidarity rally called on supporters to ‘end climate injustice.’

The New York Times reported September 21, 2014 (Lisa W. Foderado) that “…demonstrators stretching as far as the eye could see moved through Midtown Manhattan late Sunday morning (September 21), chanting their demands for action on climate change.”
