Get ready for Slip-n-Slide on steroids, Louisville.

Slide the City, a new water party event, is heading to our fair city this July. “It’s the world’s largest slip-n-slide,” Slide Manager Kurt Jackson told me, “but it’s much more than that. There’s food and great music and it’s an all-day community event. That’s what we’re about – bringing the community together for a fun experience.”

At 1,000 feet long, the slide provides plenty of time for splashing or relaxing, or squirting your friends with your water guns (don’t forget to bring them).

The two-day Louisville event, says Jackson, is almost finalized, so watch the website for the final dates. A location near the University of Louisville is being scouted – “we’re looking for a good hill,” says Jackson -- and the charitable partner for the event will be USA Cares, which provides a range of support services to military veterans and their families, and is headquartered in Elizabethtown.

Slide the City held its first two events in Salt Lake City and Boise, Idaho, and is heading to West Palm Beach, Florida, next. For 2015, 170 events are already scheduled in the U.S. and Canada.

    About Kachina Shaw

A transplanted Hawkeye, I've now lived in Louisville longer than any other city. Can't live without: my husband and fur babies, coal-black coffee, peanut M&Ms, sunflowers, monthly vacations, books, walking paths, massage and a big purse.
