The Louisville Bats completed a rough 12-game road trip Sunday afternoon with a 4-2 loss to the Indianapolis Indians.

The game was tied going into the eighth inning, but the Indians scored the go ahead  run on  wild pitch from Bats reliever Josh Judy (1-2) and scored an insurance run with Jake Fox singled home Gorkys Hernandez.

The Bats, who started the road trip 7-12, finish the road trip 10-21 having lost seven of the final eight. They are now 1-5 in the month of May and are on pace to finish 47-97 which would qualify for the worst record by a Louisville baseball team since 1982. The Bats also look to be on pace to end a string of six straight seasons with a winning recod.

Indianapolis jumped in front of the Bats in the first inning for the second consecutive game when Matt Hague doubled home Hernandez and Jordy Mercer doubled home Hague.

Bats starter Brett Tomko gave his team as he settled in and allowed just one more hit over the next five innings. Kanekoa Texiera pitched a scoreless inning out of the bullpen before Judy’s eighth inning.

The Bats got on the board in the fourth when Chris Valaika scored on a sacrifice fly by Danny Dorn. They would tie the game when Valaika singled home Kristopher Negron in the sixth.

Neftali Soto continued to swing a hot bat for the Bats with a 2-for-4 day. Soto has now hit safely in nine of his last ten games and is hitting .317 during that span.

The Bats finally return home for an eight game homestand that will include four-game sets against the Norfolk Tides and Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. Up first are the Tides (12-17) who are scheduled to send Dana Eveland (2-2, 2.56 ERA) to the mound. The Bats will send Jeff Francis (2-3, 3.96 ERA) to the mound. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
