Queens, NY native Jesse Malin and his St. Marks Social band will play this Friday night at Zanzabar along with local acts Shadwick Wilde (folk/Americana) and Vice Tricks (rock/psychobilly).

Malin's latest album, Love It to Life, garnered mostly positive -- often glowing -- reviews, following up his album of covers, On Your Sleeve (2008) and one of my favorites from 2007, Glitter in the Gutter, which featured a duet with Bruce Springsteen, among other guests. Malin's songs, often bristling with the energy of punk, are grounded in his native streets of New York, where he also co-owns a couple of bars in the East Village.

The 21 and over show at Zanzabar starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $12 at the door or in advance at Ticketfly.com and at ear-X-Tacy.
