The Road to the Roses Fantasy Challenge, sponsored by WinStar Farm, is a fun, fantasy horse racing game that gives you another reason to follow the Derby prep races. It’s an easy to play game in which you create your own fantasy stable that you fill with ten Triple Crown nominated horses of your own choosing, along with your selection of two jockeys and two trainers. Points are awarded for Derby prep races beginning February 26th and culminating with the Kentucky Derby. Points vary depending upon the grade of the stakes race and whether your horse finishes first, second, or third. You can double the points earned for a race when you make your horse a “Power Horse.” Only five horses can be selected as a Power Horse at any given time and must be selected before a scoring race day. You can otherwise change Power Horses at any time throughout the competition. You also receive points when your jockey or trainer wins an eligible race regardless of whether or not you have the winning horse.
The first of two supplemental draft stages opened Monday which allows you to add more horses to your stable. In this stage, you have the opportunity to add three more horses to your stable. Make sure you check the Off the Trail tab on the Road to the Roses website before you add your horses.
The stable with the most points wins the top prize package which includes tickets to the 2012 Kentucky Derby. Weekly prizes are also awarded. Louisville.com has a league of our own which is currently being led by Zain-in-my-heart Stable with 122 points, who is ranked 36 overall! Congratulations Zain-in-my-heart!
If you haven't created your stable, it's not too late. Once you've created your barn, join the Louisville.com league. At the bottom of your stable information you’ll find a link to the League Manager section. Select the Join a League tab and add the requested information: Our league identifier is 2713961786 and the activation code is 2124218655.
The final Derby preps begin Saturday with the Louisiana Derby. So, create your stable, pick your horses, and have some fun as you wait for Derby Day.
