The Second Annual River City Rock & Roll Festival, scheduled for Sept 18th & 19th at Bicentennial Park in Madison, IN, is the latest offering of national and regional bands together in support of the Musicians For All Foundation (online at www.mfa-info.com).  The lineup brings a couple of big names to the region for the festival in Devon Allman (son of Gregg) and Ekoostic Hookah, the popular “jam” band that make occasional stops in Louisville.

Regional favorites include Jimmy Davis Band, Andrea Davidson, Rusty Bladen (with his band the Designated Driver), Local Villains, and the band of the event organizers, Samesoul.

Samesoul bass player Joe Devito and singer/guitarist Chris Jesse founded the non-profit organization in 2006 with the goal “ helping displaced kids and the programs/homes that support them”.  Devito and Jesse volunteered to play for kids living in a local facility.  The fact that kids weren’t living in their homes left an impression on the musicians and led them to create the organization to help the kids learn and appreciate what an improvement a life within that music community could bring.

Proceeds from this event make up the majority of the MFA budget.  MFA is a non-profit organization dedicated to putting musical instruments in the hands and minds of troubled youths.
