The Louisville Triple Crown of Running, which has become one of the nation's most acclaimed series of running events, begins again in just under 4 months, leaving runners and walkers alike plenty of time to train and add a Triple Crown t-shirt to their wardrobes. Registration is now open, so enter one race, or all three, to get and stay motivated.
Choose a local training plan that's right for you! Join the YMCA's Triple Crown training program beginning in January, team up with Fleet Feet Sports for some serious coaching that will lead you not only through the Triple Crown of Running, but to the Kentucky Derby Marathon or miniMarathon, or raise money for the Crusade for Children and run the whole series of races for free. Be sure to visit the Louisville Triple Crown of Running message board for motivation, support, and advice as you begin your training.
Only two weeks divide each race. The triad kicks off February 26, 2011 with the Anthem 5k Fitness Classic, an annual favorite, continues on March 12, 2011 with the Rodes City Run 10k, and concludes on March 26, 2011 with the Papa John's 10 Miler.
Run as an individual, or form a team and split some miles among friends.
And, get the kids involved by signing them up for the Kids' Fun Run at each race: kids ages 3-5 run a 50 yard dash, kids 6 and 7 run a 100 yard dash, and kids ages 8-10 run 400 yards, just $5 each or $15 for all three races. Kids receive race packets and Fun Run t-shirts.
Runners and walkers to complete all three races will be listed in April's issue of LEO!
