Lori Beck, 28, and Tyler Trotter, 31, have an amazing appreciation for, and knowledge about all things beer. Last year, they both left previous careers- Lori was an artist and art curator, Tyler was a musician and sound engineer, to open the Louisville Beer Store on Market St.
What made you decide to open the store?
Tyler had been touring and was inspired by the Belgian beer stores & West coast tasting & tap rooms. Louisville Beer Store is sort of a mix of the two.
Both of us have a long love affair with craft beer and had been searching far and wide to find rare and hard-to-get bottles, so we decided to just open a beer store here in Louisville.

This menu looks amazing! We can't wait to try the beers we picked out with Chef Edward Lees cuisine.
Saturday, October 2nd - Oktoberfest at NULU Fest
Louisville Beer Store is bringing in a variety of imported German craft brews, not to mention a local beer tent featuring the best German-style beers made in town!
We are planning a Beerfest competition too.

What beers would you recommend for....
Someone who wants to branch out from Bud Light:
Take baby steps. Try a good German or Czech Pils or Lager and go from there.
We offer beer flights everyday with various styles of beer. It's a good way to find out what you like and don't like.
An adventurous beer drinker:
There are too many options for those open to trying just about anything, so here are three top picks:
1. Anything from Brasserie Des Franches-Montagnes aka BFM - this Swiss brewer (and ex-winemaker) makes some of the most complex and innovative beers in the world!
2. Scandinavian Imperial Stouts, like Djaevlebryg Gudelos (16.9oz/$9.99)
3. The Japanese breweries: Hitachino Nest, Baird or Ise Kadoya. Right now we have the Carpenter's Mikan Ale by Baird, very unusual, very tasty.
Someone with "champagne tastes on a beer budget":
When I think of champagne, I think of France, and then I think of Biere de Garde, which is a very subtle, highly refreshing, ale that has some nice fruit & floral notes. My favorite is the Page 24 Biere de Printemps (750ml/$9.99). If you want something made in the US, I highly recommend Jolly Pumpkin's (Dexter, MI) Oro de Calabaza (750ml/$12.49)
A locavore:
There are several local beers such as Browning's She-Devil and BBC's Heine Brothers Coffee Stout here in the store.
Also, you can stop by any of the five local breweries (Cumberland Brews, Browning's, BBC Tap Room, BBC St. Matthews, & New Albanian Brewing Co.)to get your growler fill on!
