Sailing on the Ohio River?  Yes, you can!

Presented by the River Cities Community Sailing Program and Metro Parks, on Saturday, June 12, children and adults with an interest in sailing can attend the FREE Learn-to-Sail Clinic.

For kids ages 9 to 18, there will be two identical 2-hour clinics, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 3:00 to 5:00 pm., with sailing experts teaching about the parts of a sailboat, how wind moves a sailboat, some cool nautical knots, and of course, some nautical terminology.  And, that's just the first hour.  For the second hour of the clinic, kids will actually go sailing!

Adults, there will be a single three-hour session for you from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.  (Might we call this the three hour tour?)  During the first two hours, you'll be introduced to sailing with a land-based presentation, and for the third, you'll set sail!

If you or your kids need something to do this Saturday afternoon, and you have an interest in sailing, Cox Park on River Road in Louisville is the place to be.  Be sure to come a bit early for registration.

"Why should I bother learning to sail if I don't have a boat?"

River Cities Community Sailing already has the solution with the Friday Night Sailing and Pizza for all former students.

The group also offers Skipper Certification, and US Sailing Keelboat Certification classes for those who want to get serious about sailing.  With certification, sailors can sail with the Time-Share program to continue their experience.

The River Cities Community Sailing Program is a non-profit organization that was formed to offer all Kentuckiana residents an opportunity to learn to sail inexpensively.  Check it out at SailLouisville.org, and begin your sailing future this Saturday, June 12 at Cox Park.
