The resume associated with the Louisville Sports Commission has been growing lately; with their work in establishing the Paul Hornung Award, Cyclocross and a number of other athletics related events the commission has really been trying to make a name for themselves at the city.

People that have already agreed to their involvement include basketball all-star Rex Chapman, former University of Louisville basketball coach who won two NCAA championships Denny Crum, Kentucky Colonel legend Louie Dampier, horse racing icon Pat Day, UofL and NBA superstar Darrell Griffith, former University of Kentucky basketball coach who won a NCAA championship of his own Joe B. Hall, football legend and two time Super bowl champ Paul Hornung, basketball superstar and University of Kentucky stand out Dan Issel, current University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino, former University of Kentucky basketball coach and NCAA champion Tubby Smith, football star Will Wolford, golf all-star and PGA champion Fuzzy Zoeller among others.

The event is being headed up by Julie Howell who is trying to honor the sports legends of the city in this historic outing.  According to the sports commission’s website, “Louisville is fortunate to have a very rich history of “legendary” sports figures, including the greatest of all time, Muhammad Ali. Because of the Legends’ importance to our community, the Louisville Sports Commission wants to recognize these men and women for their sporting achievements help preserve their legacy and encourage each Legend to be a great Ambassador for our community."

    About Dave Rose

Recently, I completed a Masters degree in Education and have been writing for for over a year now, prior to that I published a humor book for young adults titled Wearing Socks with Sandals, a book about getting through high school, college, and all of the requisite problems that present themselves during that time. Currently, I spend much of my time in classroom settings as well as writing in various areas. Of course, I’m a big sports fan and love music and film, and love finding new stuff around Louisville.
