It’s not just another horse show.
The North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) is in town for its’ 38th year, and it’s more than you think.
Though much of the NAILE revolves around the showing, buying and selling of livestock, a huge worldwide industry, there are many events that make the Expo an interesting way for the entire family to spend a day.
For the totality of the Expo, the entire North Wing has been transformed into a Giant Country Store, filled with vendors selling everything from cowboy boots and hats to jewelry and home decorations.
Youngsters can visit the Children’s Barnyard and the Farmer for a Day play area. Kids of all ages can summon their courage to ride the mechanical bull.
Seek out the Art of Wool Showcase. Watch and learn as artists from the Friendship Spinners Guild demonstrate this centuries-old tradition that is making a modern comeback.
And if that’s not enough, check out the animals.
Animals ranging from llamas and alpacas to sheep, steer, pigs, dairy cattle, quarter horses, draft horses, goats, mules and donkeys all have their time to shine in different events, all accessible to the public with admission.
Over the course of the fourteen day event, visitors from 46 states and two dozen countries will make the trek to the “World’s Largest Purebred Livestock Show.” With over $800,000 in premiums and awards given and 1.2 million square feet of exhibition space, this is no small happening.
In addition to the general show categories, the NAILE has seven major youth judging contests, including several national 4-H contests and conferences. These events alone will hand out $200,000 in awards and scholarships.

Daily admission into the NAILE is $6 for adults, $3 for seniors and children 12 and under, and includes admission into all shows with the exception of the Rodeo. Parking at the KY Expo Center is $8.
