The Filson Historical Society and The Kentucky Derby Museum are the top providers of quality bourbon events in the city of Louisville, so when they come together for an event you know it’s going to be good. August 6th at 5:30 p.m., Derby Museum Bourbon Authority Fred Minnick will host Filson Bourbon Historian Michael Veach for the final Legends Series of 2015.
Veach studied history at The University of Louisville and became the archivist for United Distillers until 1996. He began working for the Filson in 1997 and published Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey: An American Heritage in 2013. He was inducted into the Bourbon Hall of Fame in 2006. He is considered by many to be at the forefront of bourbonism.
Says Minnick on the event page, “Mike Veach is arguably the greatest bourbon historian to ever live. He has mentored many bourbon enthusiasts, including myself. The entire industry owes him an incredible debt of gratitude for his unwavering desire to provide a scholarly effort in bourbon history.”
Having Michael Veach and Fred Minnick together on stage talking about bourbon is sure to be captivating. Minnick’s approach to the Legends Series is a journalistic style question and answer session complimented with a bourbon tasting throughout.
The evening will begin with cocktails and appetizers. Michter’s products will be used for the tasting, and Michter’s US*1 will be available for purchase after the program. Copies of both Veach’s and Minnick’s books will be available for purchase and signing. Learn more about this event and purchase tickets by clicking here.
