Mayor Fischer's office announced today on social media the Louder Than Life Festival, described as "Music + whiskey + gourmet man food festival," (whatever gourmet man food is).

The festival will be held on October 4 & 5, 2014 at Louisville Champions Park, which is the park along River Road near Zorn Avenue. The park used to be a golf course but is used mostly now for bikers and cross-country races.

The festival will feature rock bands on three stages, as well as highlighting the region's best bourbon, craft beers and local cuisine.

The festival will be put on by Danny Wimmer Presents, a company that also handles Rock on the Range (headlined by Guns'n'Roses, Avenged Sevenfold, and Kid Rock), The Big Ticket, Chill on the Hill, and other rock festivals.

“When I first came to Louisville, I fell in love with the city, its diverse food, its bourbon and its culture. It screamed ‘LOUDER THAN LIFE’ and I felt this was the perfect destination for this kind of rock festival,” said producer Danny Wimmer.

Look for the band lineup, ticket pre-sale information, and details on hotel and camping packages to be announced June 5. Visit www.LouderThanLifeFestival.com to join the LOUDER THAN LIFE email list and for the most current festival info.

It appears there’s a connection between Louder Than Life and local radio station 93.1 The Fox, as the radio station's Facebook page is the only one that Louder Than Life “likes.”
