Sometimes knowledge is power – other times it just makes life a little more scary.
But if for some reason you would like to know exactly how much crime is in your neighborhood, the Louisville Metro Police Department has made the process as easy as using a search engine.
It is called MetroWatch and you can think of it as Google Maps meets Law and Order. Hit the site, type your address in the right-hand search mechanism and up pops in an interactive map coded by crime type that accounts for the last three months of crimes on file in your neck of the woods.
You can track everything from vandalism to homicide and find out a few more details of the reported incident just by clicking the “i” icon on the left-hand menu and then clicking the mapped icon you are curious about.
The system has actually been around since 2007, but seems like it might be worth publicizing again. And if you are looking to move into a new neighborhood, it might be worth visiting.
