One of Louisville’s leading champions of modern dance, Moving Collective, will be presenting their new movement installation, Stories Gathered, this Saturday, February 23rd, at The Clifton Center.
Moving Collective, founded in 2006 by Theresa Bautista, aims to keep modern dance alive and kicking (pun intended) by providing a work-learn space for choreographers and dancers from the Ohio Valley region. Stories Gathered is their fifteenth evening-length concert and brings together the collected works of six choreographers, including Bautista who will present Layers…or what’s in between. Pieces by Moving Collective co-producer Tamara Begley, danah bella, Rodney A. Brown, and Kristin Howe and Joanna Lees of Minnesota’s Alternative Motion Project round out the evening.
dannah bella, who has created In The Memory of Hope with composer Salvador Barajas, will be incorporating a sound installation into her movement piece. A floor mat will be fitted with sensors underneath and when triggered by the dancers movement these sensors will play pre-recorded sound that will create an improvised score to the work that will be discovered live by all present.
Stories Gathered will be presented at The Clifton Center on Saturday, February 23rd at 8pm. The Clifton Center is located at 2117 Payne Street at the corner of Clifton Avenue.
