Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it is that time of year: the air is chilled and pumpkins are emerging and before too long we'll have hordes of pesky teenagers getting up to all their usual shenanigans. But we are here to talk about the opposite of that: virginity.
Propriety keeps me from giving my full thoughts on the subject, so we'll move on to the point: a fantastic event hosted by none other than your favorite film discussion podcast in the world: Movie Meltdown, presenting Meltdown Macabre, a super-special double feature.
It starts with a screening of Chastity Bites, a new film whose only screening in Louisville will be at this very event. At a modern-day high school, a beautiful and charismatic woman appears to lead the girls in the Virginity Action Group, a trendy abstinence-only program. Turns out she is centuries old and relies on the blood of virgins to keep her young. Who can stop her devious plan??
This will be followed by the cult classic Mama Dracula, starring Oscar winner Louise Fletcher (Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest). The year is 1980 and Fletcher is the title character, a vampire who relies on the blood of virgins to stay alive. However, being the end of the '70s and the beginning of the 80s, there are not many virgins around, which presents a problem for our heroine.
Finally, to cap it all off, the Meltdown crew will be conducting a live episode recording with a discussion of Mama Dracula.
It all happens tomorrow, Saturday, at 7:00 at the Alley Theater, located at 1205 E. Washington Street. Admission is only $10. Complete details can be found at the Facebook event page.
